Kawasaki P-1. Brand new. It's just entered service replacing the P-3 in Japanese service.

Looks like the bastard offspring of a P-3 and a DC-8.
Actually, looks pretty smart and I'd love to see the RAF buy some now Japan is exporting weapons again!

I think it looks more like an upsized S-2.
Yeah, she's a good looking plane. This one was very, very clean. The color is a light glossy blue that doesn't show well in any of the photos I took.

What I see is a P-3 nose with an Airbus 318 fuselage and wings. Oh, and an extra set of engines. Cute. It's rare that we see new aircraft these days.

Meh. Maybe it is just proof I'm spending too much time in Seattle, but I like the P-8 better.

and a few from a bit farther aft. The harsh lighting washed out the color. The overall color was a light blue much like that you can see above the rear of the wing. The color was very pretty. This is the first production airframe. It was accepted into service about a month ago. No wonder the Japanese officer I spoke with was so proud.
