Short story is that part of my 1:32 Ju88 undercarriage was molded short. So I used some reusable silicone for a smash mold (What is the name of that stuff? Text is in Japanese only. You heat it with boiling water). The undercarriage is handed, but the parts are very similar, so I could use one of the kit parts as a master. I used Tamiya's light curing putty and while I made a mess the last time I tried this time I stirred the putty around a bit to ensure that all components were mixed thoroughly, then I pressed the putty into the mold. 2 minutes under the lamp and presto! It worked! Some parts molded short and some air bubbles, but easily fixed with more putty. The part is not going to show, anyway.

But I realised that the normal fluorescent light did it nice and quickly. The trick is to ensure that the putty is mixed thoroughly. I also appreciate the fact that you can keep working on the putty for quite some time, adding little by little, if only you make sure the supply isn't directly under the table lamp.

The easiest and cheapest place I know for it is Yodobashi Camera.
The company's name is 'For Authentic Creator'. They've recently added some other products that I have purchased or tried. For the life of me I can't remember what exactly the new products are or what they were for, but ISTR they impressed me at the store.
My mind is slipping, I'm afraid.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested in the silicone.

Instant Mold seems to be a repackaged version of the stuff for the Games Workshop/Warhammer set. At their usual mark up!

Yes I used a special curing light that I use for composite/resin filling material. The light isn't necessary for it either but it sets the material in 20 seconds as apposed to minutes.
Just a perk of being a dentist I guess

I use a LED mini-maglite. The stuff cures for me in about 30 seconds.
