Nice work on a mediocre kit. Always fun painting the camo spots on these. The even length wings though is not a minor issue with the Macchis.
I think I still prefer the Special Hobby kit, and with a little surgery easy enough to change from teh bubbletop to the humpback version.

Nice job, LC. Whose markings did you use?
In addition to the wing length, there is also the wing's leading edge is rounded. Saetta, unlike the 202 and 205 wings, had a pointed sharper leading edge. Fortunately the HB's wing is thick enough to correct. The longer port wing is also not too difficult to correct.
My bigger complaint with this kit is the solid landing gear well. Ok, the idea of selling a 5 dollar kit for 16 also torques me a bit.
Craig, Flying Machines has a humpback kit that is basically the Special Hobby kit. So no need to do conversion work.

John, Decals are from SKY and are as good as Hobby Boss Aircraft was flown by Tenete Cesare Marchesi, the Squadron leader of 373 Squadrigilia. This unit was based at Bari-Palenese, Italy in 1941. Camuflage scheme is typical for Aermacchi. Craig, AML makes decent C.200 allowing to make also C.200 with MC.202 wing. Good but laborious kit to do. What attracted me to HB is the canopy, little did I know is tragically THICK! I got my C.200 form Squadron for about 11 bucks, before they started to overprice them. Still 11 bucks is a 1.5 price!

AML's 200 has some shape problems in forward fuselage that throw the whole kit off. Built this on MUG a few years back.

Interesting note: Trumpeter/Hobby Boss's designers don't seem to be modellers. They're CAD guys, who convert whatever 2D blueprints they're given into 3D models. Trumpeter is an offshoot of an injection molding company - you sent them sketches of your new product, they'd make CAD models and cut the tooling to produce it - and I suspect they have pretty much the same philosophy for kits. Some guy in the marketing division will decide what subject to do next, source some scale drawings to send down to the CAD guys, then box up the resulting models. They're really not going back and forth correcting things, or even researching the subject all that heavily. They're just making a product to spec, then moving on to the next product.

They're just making a product to spec, then moving on to the next product. That really shows! In the other hand, I'm starting next Saetta This time a bit more (but not completely) accurate. I'm adding wheel wells just like on MC.202.

Your approach to the wheel wells are different than mine. Probably saner, too. BTW, HB's wheel well shape is a bit off also. Adding the wing length is easier. Checking photos and drawings, the length increase included the aileron, so you just need to add a bit of plastic and rescribe. Don't forget to sharpen the leading edge. Forgive me for showing my work in your thread.

I remember your Saetta from (was it MUG days?) before. It was a beautiful job. It doesn't look hard, but why do it when the Flying Machines kit has just been re-released?

When I did mine, I had the choice of the old Revell kit, the RCR kit or the Special Hobby Bubbletop. I had all three and the Revell and RCR kits were dire (the RCR more so than the Revell kit). It was easy enough to dissect the RCR bits and add to the Special Hobby kit, and not detracting from LCs very nice build, still a more accurate end result than Hobby Boss have produced.
Having done my MC.200 don't have any desire to do another, but will be getting a Fiat G.50 into the cabinet at some stage.

BTW, I like that LC is doing a newer and improved build - be good to see the two side by side at the end. I can highly recommend the Squadron/Falcon canopy LC.

Guys, ALL I needed it was something to PAINT But since you "twisted my arm" ...This are going to be with corrections including wings. The correction will not be as per drawings but as per Hasegawa MC.202. That means shortening one wing. I can't bother to make (start than put it in to box for better times) correct model. At this moment I need HOBBY to entertain and make me forget about pain, troubles and so on! Name it occupational therapy To bad Squadron do not have this half canopy for C.200. However Falcon had this one for early version! Craig, where did you get yours, is it from set #1? -They didn't have this one in stock for years - John, can you post some pictures of your build here? I'm sorry I missed it on Trash.

I'm adjusting wing and wheel wells to Hasegawa kit. I will also do several of MC.202 just for painting

Nice work. You've influenced me. After saying I wouldn't do another C.200, I just won these on a local auction site last week.
