I have been doing a little work at the bench.
Recently I started with Fujimi's 72nd JGSDF truck. Fujimi is also reluctant to pay licensing fees as no make is given on the box or the instructions. I believe the manufacturer is Isuzu, but don't hold me to that.
Interestingly Aoshima also makes this truck. I thought at first they were the same kit, but review of sprue shots in magazines show this is not the case. Aoshima includes either a water trailer or a portable kitchen trailer depending on the issue. Even more interestingly, both companies chose to mold the tires hollow at the back. Boo!
Fujimi's kit is pretty decent outside of the tires. Fujimi used the same approach with the mufflers, jerry can, and a chassis storage box.
This may be an uninteresting subject to many guys, but I see these trucks pretty often. I never expected to be able to build one. Really didn't want to build one until the kit came out. Then it seemed a good idea.
Paints used are Tamiya acrylic for the chassis black and for the OD tarp. The truck green is from GSI's new JGSDF paint set. The green looks to be an exact match to the green on the trucks around here.
Fujimi did the tarp in 4 parts, but the molded on flap windows on the sides don't look anything like the real thing. I cut the molded on detail away and added new flaps from .5mm sheet plastic.
She's almost finished. I need to add racks to the chassis, the tires, and the hold down ropes for the tarps. Should be finished soon.
