In a recent Model Graphix, there was an interview with one of the former Tamiya design chiefs, who left to form Ebbro, a die cast company that is now getting into plastic models. It's been translated and posted to a blog, in 14 parts. f1modelingcorner.blogspot.jp/p/blog-page.html (links to the other parts down the right hand side) Lots of *really* interesting stuff about the early days at Tamiya, the way (good) kit designers look at shapes, internal battles over subjects and the business of plastic models, etc. etc. It`s got a slightly more automotive bent, but there`s a lot of fantastic stuff for anyone interested in scale modelling, really. Also interesting to note, since people always debate what sells and where: he`s currently pegging kit sales at 6:4 global vs. Japan.

Interesting even for me that never did had any interest in building cars, especially F1 or racing cars.

Interesting read.
Was in Edinburgh last week at Wonderland Models and saw their first injection kit - a 1/20 Team Lotus Type 72C. Looked very nice.
Cheers,
Tim
